Design Process
After initial contact the design process begins with a CONSULTANCY VISIT. Here, Jane will spend time with you discussing the brief, walking around the garden and taking comprehensive notes and sketches where necessary.
If you decide to proceed, a convenient time will be arranged to carry out the SITE SURVEY. Measurements will be taken of the house and garden, to include levels, soil samples, aspects, views and photographs.
This, together with the consultancy visit will form the basis of the LAYOUT PLAN. A good design will combine practicalities, function and aesthetics together with your own personal preferences. Interim sketches and meetings can be arranged before the final design is prepared.
Once the Layout Plan is finalised, PLANTING PLANS are prepared. These take into consideration the aspect and growing conditions of the site and species are chosen accordingly. Colour and texture feature highly and can be tailored to suit individual tastes.
Jane works with a number of preferred CONTRACTORS and can produce a written specification and construction drawings. Not all projects require this much detail and Jane is happy to tailor each new design to suit the client and their budget.
MATERIALS for hard landscaping can then be decided before the work commences. These will be chosen to match the architecture of the building and its location, the budget and suitability of purpose.
Jane is happy to oversee the project to its completion and will personally lay out the plants, prior to planting, on every scheme.
